Merkinch Local Nature Reserve
A lovely low-level walk of 2 miles with beautiful views across the Beauly Firth to the Black Isle and east towards the A9 Kessock Bridge and Moray Firth. The sights include bottlenose dolphins at high tide, the remains of a crane, a disused 'puggy' railway line to a local distillery and Thomas Telford's Caledonian Canal opened in 1822. If you are lucky you will see Blue Heron, orchids, roe deer and butterflies along the way.
