Inverness Train Station
Opened in 1855 and designed by Joseph Mitchell, Inverness train station originally had only one platform, service by three lines: one for arrivals, one for departures, and a spare line for carriages. With increased demand, the station was expanded in 1865, 1876 and again in 1968 when new station buildings were built under British Rail. Today, the station hosts 7 platforms, and takes rail passengers as far as London direct.
