Standing at a staggering 3984ft, Ben Lawers is the 10th highest peak in Scotland, with unbeatable views of the Cairngorms. This extreme height causes cold temperatures at the peak, creating the right environment for plants more usually found in arctic areas of Scandinavia! In the summer months there are rare flower species such as the alpine gentian and alpine forget-me-not, only recorded in two different locations around Britain. Interesting wildlife and birds can also be spotted, such as peregrines, ring ouzels and ptarmigan. Take a moderate walk - Edramucky Trail takes 1.5 hours.
