Alyth
Alyth is a picturesque village at the foot of Alyth Hill. The area surrounding Alyth is steeped in ancient history. To the north east of Alyth is a Pictish Hill fort, that as local legend has it, Guinevere from Arthurian legend was once imprisoned. Â The village itself has an extraordinary high church steeple. This may be in some way connected to the early arrival of Christianity to the area. The medieval parish church was dedicated to St Moluag of Lismore, a contemporary of St Columba. Alyth has a small museum which holds a 100 beautiful objects, each telling a story about the history of the area and the Cateran Trail. Alyth is on the Cateran Trail and is a great place for walkers to stay.
