About us
The Highland Discovery app and website have been created by Whereverly Limited and first originated as a Scottish Government CivTech programme in 2016, with the aim to promote tourism activity along the A9, generating additional revenue and employment to the local area.
Initiated and funded by Transport Scotland, the project has been developed in partnership with Traditional Arts and Culture Scotland and the Moffat Centre, Glasgow Caledonian University, while its content was generated by members of the local community, including local storytellers and musicians – to whom we are most grateful.
Special thanks is also given to the wonderful range of organisations who contributed to the project. This includes all those at the local tourism associations and the Highland Main Line Community Partnership who showed their support; Greentrax Recordings who provided us with access to their amazing back catalogue of Scottish music; and the Cairngorm National Park Authority, Sustrans and Cycle Friendly Kingussie who provided the project with its amazing range of walks and cycle routes.
Finally, we are thankful to The Department for Transport, ScotRail and Innovate UK, who helped bring the Highland Main Line into the experience.
